Speaking, Teaching, Encouraging

I speak to women with the clear intent of bringing the Bible to life in tangible, practical ways.

Please note: I believe the bible is the Word of God and without error (even the parts that are easily misunderstood or that are hard to come to terms with!) I believe Jesus is the Son of God and He died to save me from my sins. I believe that I can not by my own thinking or choosing believe in Jesus Christ or come to Him (Martin Luther), but that faith is a gift that I do not deserve. I don't claim to know it all, or have it all figured out! I'll be learning and growing by God's grace until He brings me home.

Are You willing to stand alone? Have you noticed the heroes of faith often had to stand alone? Joseph was alone in Egypt; David went to battle Goliath alone; Esther alone faced the king; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo alone stood and refused to bow to an idol. Being alone is uncomfortable. But our willingness to be alone for a time, or single for a season, shows we trust God. We'll explore the challenges of standing alone and the benefits. And we'll also explore the flip side of that. Refusing to be alone often finds us living in contrast to scripture.

The Battle of the Wills: God's vs. Mine goes through the different personality types (planner, go-with-it type, dreamer and exister) and the pitfalls each faces when looking at the future. We look at ways we can derail from God's plan for our life: Not having the integrity to lead, our ego getting in the way, caring more about what our peers think than God, wanting to do obedience our way, thinking we need to help God out, and thinking we know better than everyone else. I encourage people to take on the role of the servant which includes: following the Master's ways, being devoted to him and craving what He craves wherever that takes us and whatever circumstances we're in. (30 minutes presentation and then breakout questions)

Broken and Ready for His Use examines different ways we can be broken (not getting something we desperately want, I don't feel loved, life is not turning out how I thought, something precious was taken from me, because of our sin or someone else's sin, because God wants to use me). We’ll study examples from the Bible and then reflect on our own brokenness in these area to see it from God's perspective...how our brokenness keeps us close to Him, furthers His kingdom, how He equips us during those periods, etc.  (1 1/2-2 hour seminar)

Compassion: Help for a Hurting World is a seminar based on Acts 9:36-40. Tabitha was a disciple who was always doing good and helping the poor. John tells us to love not just with words but with actions and in truth. How can we do that? This seminar takes you through four tangible things you can do to help those hurting in your lives. (45min - 1 hour)

Clothed in Beauty: We spend so much time thinking about our looks. We cut our hair, dye our hair, shop for clothes, paint our nails. What does God find attractive in a woman and what can we do to be more attractive to Him? Clothed in Beauty will lead us through Colossians 3:12,14, "Therefore as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

(Can be a 1-2 hour seminar)

Disappointed in Me; Disappointed in God: Overcoming Feelings of being Underwhelmed: With social media it's easy to feel as if we don't measure up. Everyone else's children are more accomplished. Everyone else has a high paying job and a vacation home. No one else posts about the struggles of being a parent to teenagers, or exercising hardcore for a month for a one pound weight loss (yay!). It's easy at times to get angry at God, but only because we're being misled and tempted and we don't understand. Together we'll walk through scripture and see what God has to say to us about being disappointed and how He wants us to think about Him and life.

Forgiven to Forgive: Every time we pray the Lord's prayer we pray that God would forgive our sins as we forgive others. In theory that sounds good, but the truth is that forgiving is hard and we rarely do it well. We will look at this petition and forgiving in regard to the repeat offender, the repentant sinner and the unrepentant thorns in our side. By the time we dig through scripture in each of these areas, hopefully we'll have a new appreciation for the forgiveness we've received, and we'll be more willing to extend it to others.

Greater Love: Scripture tells us both Abraham and Moses are called God's friend. David is called a man after God's own heart. John, we're told, was the disciple Jesus loved. Do you long to have the same said about you? Good! That's what God wants, too. We'll look at what kind of friend God is: a friend who knows us, listens to us, helps us and saves us, and we'll see how our friendship with the God of the universe causes us to be a better friend to others. (1 hour)

Ladies of Legacy: Why your chatter matters: In this session we look at women of the Bible to see how they used their mouths to glorify God or to get into trouble. As a woman who has lots of experience taking my foot out of my mouth, I'll lead the search through scripture to find practical ways to make sure what leaves our mouth is a blessing, and not a curse. (45 min.)

Parenting the neverending vocation: finding strength to meet the challengesMotherhood is a lifelong endeavor. Being a mother means putting in long, often draining days, regardless of the age of your child. How do we find the strength to get through the day to day and week to week? We'll look to scripture to find tangible answers to apply today and in the days to come.

Redeemed based on 1 Peter 1: 18, 19, “For you know it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from your empty way of life, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Modern day Christians do not understand the concept of redemption. Jews who knew the Old Testament were very familiar with redemption because several of their customs and laws dealt with it. We’ll explore OT traditions to understand what redemption means, then examine the “empty ways of life handed down to us from our forefathers” and discover the process of redeeming them. (1-1 ½ hours)

Relationships 101: Men, Women and God: Relationships God's way are so different than the way the world tells us to do them. Is it any wonder relationships fall apart? We'll look at God's Word for guidance to see what He instructs men and women to do and why. This presentation was initially written for 18-25 year olds and is 30 minutes long. Breakout questions for men and woman are included.

Set your heart to impress: Examining the characteristics of people who wowed Jesus:All throughout the gospels we see people amazed at what they see Jesus doing, but there are only a few times in the gospels that Jesus is amazed by the words or actions of someone else. In this presentation we take a look at the characteristics that grabbed Jesus' attention, so that we, too, can live with crazy perseverance, complete humility, courageous faith, abundant giving, unabashed and lavish worship, the knowledge of grace and a deeper understanding of mercy.

With all my Heart explores the greatest command: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind” (Matthew 22:37). We examine the terms “heart”, “soul” and “mind” and how we can dishonor or honor God with each. (1-1/12 hour seminar).

Who Am I? Our roles are constantly changing. With age, the addition of children, the loss of loved ones, we can start to wonder who we are. We’ll examine the roles that never change and take a close look at our roles of wife, mother and servant to each other. (1 hour)
