Stay in the Struggle
I find myself in the midst of struggle...a lot. Some of my struggles are internal: why did you eat that? You weren't even hungry. And some of the struggles are external. Did she mean to say that? Did he mean to do that?
Last week I was reminded that the struggle is a good thing, even if the hurt goes deep, and even when you lose sleep as you spend a night wrestling with God in prayer.
To not struggle is to give in, quit trying and fall into complacency. It is to declare the battle too hard and to believe Satan's lies that God doesn't care, and isn't big enough to see you through.
Paul tells us to fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12), and to put on the full armor of Christ (Ephesians 6). Jesus said he didn't come to bring peace, but a sword (Matthew 10:34). We are called to battle, to struggle.
That means we stay in the marriage during the tough times. It means we pray over our straying friends or family members. It means we forgive the person who continues
treat us badly and we love those who don't deserve our love. It means we don't get our way and we serve beyond what our selfish hearts desire. It means we do things God's way and not our own.
I hope you are struggling today, as I am, and I hope you always do. And in the struggle I hope you find God's peace, and endure with His strength.
And I hope you see the rest of us struggling, too, so you know you are not alone.
